Concrete Calculator – Cubic Yards and Concrete Volume

A concrete calculator estimates how much concrete you need for a slab or rectangular area. You enter length (ft), width (ft), and depth (inches). The result is in cubic yards—the usual unit for ordering concrete. This article explains the formula and links to our concrete calculator.

Quick Answer

Length × width10 ft × 10 ft

Cubic yards1.23

How It Works

Volume (cubic ft) = length × width × (depth ÷ 12). Then cubic yards = cubic ft ÷ 27. For 10×10 ft and 4 in depth: 100 × (4/12) ≈ 33.33 ft³; 33.33 ÷ 27 ≈ 1.23 yd³. Order a bit extra for spill and uneven subgrade.

Additional Notes

Concrete is often ordered in cubic yards. Round up when ordering.
